ScreenSage Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

  • Free, no in-app purchases
  • Not medical advice
  • Your content stays yours

01

Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your use of ScreenSage, a macOS menu bar app for eye care reminders and guided breaks (the “App”). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

02

App Store Terms

The App is distributed through the Mac App Store. Your use of the App is also governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). Where these Terms conflict with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA applies. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it.

03

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Mac you own or control, as permitted by the Apple EULA. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, redistribute, sell or sublicense the App or any part of it, except where applicable law expressly allows it.

04

Cost

ScreenSage is currently free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If we ever introduce paid features, we will make the price clear before you are charged. Any purchase would be handled by Apple under its own terms.

05

Not Medical Advice

ScreenSage is a wellness tool designed to encourage regular breaks from your screen. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Break suggestions, such as the 20-20-20 rule, are general guidance only. If you have eye strain, headaches, vision changes or any other health concern, please consult a qualified healthcare professional. Do not rely on the App in place of professional medical advice.

06

How the App Works

ScreenSage tries to show reminders at the right time. It may hide or delay them on purpose, for example while your microphone is in use, while you are presenting, or while a full-screen app is open, depending on your settings. Reminders may also be affected by your Mac’s sleep, notification and display settings. We do not guarantee that every reminder will appear when expected. You remain responsible for managing your own screen time and breaks.

07

Your Content

You can add your own images and GIFs and write your own text for custom break screens (“Your Content”). Your Content stays on your Mac and is never uploaded to us. You keep all rights to it. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use any content you add, and that using it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

08

Our Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, presets, characters, illustrations, animations, built-in media and branding, is owned by us or our licensors. It is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These Terms do not give you any rights to our names, logos or trademarks.

09

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App in any way that is unlawful, or to try to interfere with, tamper with or get around how the App works or the protections of the macOS sandbox it runs in.

10

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every Mac or version of macOS.

11

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, productivity or health-related outcomes, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY / STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

13

Updates and Termination

We may update, change or stop offering the App, or any feature of it, at any time. Your license ends automatically if you break these Terms. You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your Mac.

14

Privacy

ScreenSage does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.

15

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be shown by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If you keep using the App after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
